Who are we?
Hi there! I'm Syd. After finishing my Modern Languages Degree at the University of Oxford in 2017, I went straight into teacher-training. Today, I am Head of Department in a high-performing London Secondary.
Starting my tutoring with a few clients here and there to make some extra cash during my teacher-training, I quickly realised from client feedback about their previous tutors how little the industry is really monitored. It turned out that many people claiming to be tutors, despite their best interests, have all the subject knowledge but little clue of how to actually teach effectively.
Hence, Tutoring with Syd was born! This is our tutoring family that trains each one of our tutors to deliver outstanding lessons, using the skills I've acquired myself over the years which have helped to achieve the great success my students have had. We started with just two tutors on the team, teaching Spanish and Humanities. Now we are a twenty-strong tutoring family of passionate and highly-skilled experts in a vast range of subjects, with even my mum as our administrator!

For tutors, we provide ongoing continuing professional development that helps them achieve success in these areas, accelerating their development as teachers.
At Tutoring with Syd, we are as much about helping tutors go above and beyond their potential as educators as we are about the young people we work with. We don’t just tutor; we teach.
It’s a win-win for our tutors, who become better tutors, and our clients, who can trust our team to teach their children effectively.
